Gulf Iron 1oz Metal Casting Jig

Gulf Iron is a 1 oz metal jig you throw from the beach for Spanish mackerel and bluefish.

These fish chase bait that is running away. The shiny metal looks like a small fish trying to escape. The faster you reel, the more they want it.

Throw it past where you think the fish are. Let it drop for a couple seconds so it stays under the water, then reel hard with the rod tip pointed down. If a fish swims up behind it and won’t grab it, reel even faster. A little snap of the rod while you reel often does the trick.

Bluefish will hit the same jig. They are not as picky about speed. Both fish have sharp teeth, so use a short, strong leader and check it after you land one.
