Old Coast Gulf Ember Pompano Rig

Gulf Ember is the pink-and-yellow rig.

Those colors belong on a typical Gulf day — stained, a little dirty, not gin-clear. Pompano still have to pick the bait out of moving sand. Pink and yellow give them something to find.

Two droppers on 20lb mono. A teardrop float on each drop so the bait rides instead of burying. 1/0 circle hooks.

Add a pyramid or sputnik. Tie on. Bait both hooks with sand fleas or a small piece of shrimp. Get it past the first breaker and keep the weight on the bottom. Stay tight to the line and let the circle hook do the rest.

Use the sputnik if the rig starts walking. A pyramid is enough when the beach is quieter.
