Sand Gummies – 3" Pompano Swimmer

Sand Gummies are a 3-inch curly tail. Thread one on a jig head and hop it on the sand. The tail kicks. Pompano see it as a sand flea or a small bait coming off the bottom.

This is not a bait rig. It is the lure you throw when you want to walk the beach and look for fish.

How to fish it

Use a 1/8 oz or 1/4 oz jig head. Smaller head when the Gulf is quiet. Heavier when you need to reach the trough.

Cast past the first breaker. Let it tick the sand. Lift. Drop. Pause. Most bites come on the drop.

Keep it within a foot of the bottom. If you are reeling it in mid-water, you are fishing for something else.

Colors

Pick one. You do not need all three on every trip.

• Cobalt — blue glitter, purple tail. Stained water. A typical Gulf day.
• Ghost — pearl. Clearer water. A quieter look.
• Smoke — dark body, silver flake. Overcast, dirty water, or when you want contrast on white sand.
